An adult male driver died following a two-vehicle crash that caused a rollover early on Nov. 16 in Columbus.
According to the Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit, the incident occurred at approximately 2:18 a.m. on Tussing Road at Americana Parkway. A 2011 Jeep Wrangler, driven eastbound, left its lane and collided with a westbound 2010 Mercedes E350 sedan.
The impact resulted in the Jeep rolling over, partially ejecting the male driver. Emergency responders transported him to Mount Carmel East Hospital in life-threatening condition, where he was pronounced dead at 3:08 a.m. Police have not released his identity pending confirmation and family notification.
Authorities reported that the driver of the Mercedes fled the scene before police and fire personnel arrived. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information regarding the crash is urged to contact the Columbus Division of Police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS to remain anonymous.
