Deputy Injured in Serious Urbana Crash; Investigation Underway

URBANA — A major intersection in Urbana reopened shortly after noon today following an overnight crash involving a sheriff’s deputy.

The two-vehicle collision occurred at approximately 4:14 a.m. at the intersection of Florida Avenue and Lincoln Avenue, according to Urbana Police. Emergency responders transported the deputy to a local hospital.

All lanes on Florida Avenue and Lincoln Avenue were closed for several hours as accident investigators documented the scene. By 7:40 a.m., the Champaign County Sheriff’s Department reported that the deputy was in serious but stable condition. This afternoon, authorities confirmed the deputy remains in stable condition.
