Lede: A head-on crash on U.S. Route 301 in Middletown left one man dead and two others seriously injured early on Sept. 1.
Authorities reported the collision occurred around 1:40 a.m. when a Ford Focus traveling north in the southbound lanes collided with a Kenworth tractor near Bunker Hill Road. The driver of the Ford, Sean Hannon, 31, from Maryland, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 60-year-old driver of the Kenworth, from Yonkers, New York, along with his 62-year-old passenger, sustained serious injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital.
Southbound lanes of Route 301 were closed for several hours while police conducted an investigation. The incident remains under investigation, and authorities urge witnesses to contact Cpl. Oakes at (302) 365-8483 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333 for further information.
