Deadly crash involving tour bus and truck in New York

Multiple Fatalities in New York Crash

Several people were killed and numerous others injured when a tour and a semi-truck collided on Interstate 90 near Pembroke on Friday.

According to the New York State Police, the bus, which was transporting 52 passengers and a driver from Niagara Falls to New York City, overturned. Authorities reported multiple fatalities and serious injuries, characterizing the incident as a “mass casualty” event.

Witnesses stated that they saw the bus lose control, enter the median, and then flip over onto the southern shoulder. Initial reports indicate that multiple individuals were trapped inside.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced via social media that emergency response efforts were ongoing, coordinating with state police and local officials. Mercy Flight confirmed that three helicopters were transporting victims to local hospitals, with Erie County Medical Center reporting at least eight patients by 2:10 p.m.

Additional assistance, including three helicopters from other services and multiple ambulances, was dispatched to the scene. All lanes on I-90 between exits 48A and 49 have been closed, leading to heavy delays, and drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing, with a Public Information Officer en route to provide further updates. Authorities request patience as first responders continue their work.
