Crash on Highway 20 Results in Death, Injury; Investigation Ongoing

LAFOURCHE PARISH, La. — Louisiana State Police (LSP) are addressing new evidence presented by attorney Matt Ory regarding Kyren Lacy, a former star football player at Louisiana State University.

In January, Lacy was charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless operation of a vehicle related to a fatal crash on Highway 20 in December. Lacy died by suicide in April.

Ory has asserted that new evidence exonerates Lacy, prompting LSP to release an 11-minute video detailing their findings from the crash scene. The video was posted on YouTube on Tuesday.

Following Ory’s remarks, the Louisiana chapter of the NAACP called for an external review of the investigation. Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill stated she has contacted LSP about conducting an independent review of witness statements and evidence regarding the case.

LSP released a statement indicating their commitment to a thorough and objective investigation, utilizing forensic analysis and crash reconstructions. They emphasized the importance of basing conclusions on all available evidence, urging the public to consider the complete set of facts amid external narratives.

As the investigation continues, LSP reaffirms their dedication to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice for all involved.
