Brooklyn Park Crash Claims One Life, Injures Another
One person was killed and another injured in a crash in Brooklyn Park on Saturday morning.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a Chevy Impala was traveling north on Highway 252 around 7:24 a.m. when it struck a traffic signal at Humboldt Avenue. The impact caused the vehicle to catch fire.
Brooklyn Park police reported that other motorists assisted in removing passengers from the burning car. The passenger, identified as 36-year-old Carlos Chavez Holliday, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 39-year-old driver was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A section of Highway 252 was closed for several hours between Eighth Avenue and Brookdale Drive while authorities conducted an investigation.
