FOLSOM, La. — A Covington man died in a single-vehicle crash on State Road 40 near State Road 437 on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Louisiana State Police, the accident occurred around 4:15 p.m. Investigators reported that Woodruff Camus III, 52, was driving when he failed to negotiate a curve, overcorrected, and struck a guardrail and several trees. The vehicle ultimately came to rest in a creek bed.
Camus was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was transported to St. Tammany Parish Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities have indicated that alcohol use is suspected, and toxicology tests are currently being conducted.
No additional details about the crash or potential lane closures have been confirmed.
