MADISON (WKOW) – Family members of Jeffrey and Michelle Bauer, who died in a fiery crash in the Town of Verona, have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Tesla.
The complaint arises from an incident on November 1, 2024, involving a Tesla Model S carrying the Bauers and three others: Barry Sievers, Joshua Stahl, and Tammy Stahl. According to authorities, the vehicle crashed off Range Trail, struck a tree, and ignited, resulting in fatalities for all five occupants.
The lawsuit alleges that the Tesla’s electronic door systems malfunctioned when the vehicle lost power, trapping the passengers inside. It also claims that Tesla failed to provide adequate safety features to protect against post-collision fire hazards.
The lawsuit seeks both compensatory and punitive damages.
