Car crash leads to arrest of homicide suspects in Nashville.

Manhunt Following Interstate 24 Car Crash Linked to Homicide Investigation

Authorities arrested two men in connection with a July homicide after a traffic stop led to a manhunt on Interstate 24 on August 25.

Nashville Police took 24-year-old Keilon Williams into custody on Rosa L. Parks Boulevard. A traffic stop attempt on 20-year-old James Redmond, wanted for the fatal shooting of Tyquan Jackson, 26, prompted a pursuit. According to police, Redmond fled but later had his vehicle disabled near Pleasant View.

Redmond exited the car and escaped into nearby woods, where he was apprehended by a police dog. Williams and Redmond were booked into the Downtown Detention Center later that evening on criminal homicide charges.

Jackson was fatally shot on July 26 while pursuing car burglars in the parking lot of a business on Old Hickory Boulevard. During the incident, he confronted two suspects attempting to steal from his Hyundai Kona. Witnesses reported that as Jackson followed the suspects, shots were fired from their vehicle, resulting in his death on July 28 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Court records indicate that co-defendants Hannah Crague, 34, and Jonathan Brewington, 20, were charged earlier in August. They denied involvement in the shooting and implicated Williams and Redmond as the shooters. Brewington admitted to breaking into Jackson's vehicle before the chase ensued. Following his arrest, Williams confessed to being one of the shooters.

The investigation remains ongoing.
