Car accident leaves former Alabama guard Davin Cosby Jr. injured

Former Alabama Basketball Player Recovering After Serious

TUSCALOOSA — Former Alabama basketball guard Davin Cosby Jr. is hospitalized following a car accident on Sunday, July 13.

Cosby sustained multiple injuries and underwent two successful emergency surgeries, according to a GoFundMe campaign launched to assist with medical expenses. His mother, Irene Cosby, described the accident as “serious” and is seeking community support during his recovery.

Jessica Livingston, mother of Cosby’s former teammate, reported on social media that Cosby’s vehicle was sideswiped by another driver while en route to Atlanta, causing it to collide with a semi-truck and roll over multiple times. The incident resulted in serious neck and head trauma, with Cosby being ejected from the vehicle.

Cosby was expected to participate in the 2025-26 season at Kennesaw State under former Alabama player Antoine Pettway. As recovery is anticipated to be lengthy, Ian Cosby has paused her business to care for her son.

The family is requesting donations for hospital bills, rehabilitation services, and associated expenses.
