Bicyclist Seriously Injured in Hilyard Street Crash

EUGENE, OR — Elizabeth Cardenas Figueroa, a bicyclist, suffered serious injuries in a vehicle collision on Hilyard Street on Tuesday, authorities confirmed.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. when a passenger vehicle collided with Cardenas Figueroa while she was riding her bike. Emergency responders, including the Eugene Police Department (EPD) and local medics, arrived at the scene shortly after the crash. Cardenas Figueroa was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The crash resulted in a temporary closure of Hilyard Street between 17th and 18th Avenues as officers investigated the scene and cleared the roadway. According to police, both the driver and the cyclist were wearing helmets at the time of the accident. No fatalities were reported.

Authorities are currently reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
