KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. — Michigan State Police are investigating an eight-vehicle crash involving a military vehicle and a semi-truck on I-94 near Sprinkle Road that occurred around 7:50 a.m. on October 6, 2025.
Preliminary investigations indicate the military vehicle lost control while changing lanes, colliding with a semi-truck. The impact led to a chain reaction, causing the semi to strike three additional vehicles, followed by three more being affected.
A 10-year-old child sustained serious injuries and was transported to Bronson Methodist Hospital, where officials report the child is now stable. Other individuals involved in the incident suffered minor injuries.
Authorities noted that speed is considered a contributing factor in this crash. They emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant for slowed or stopped traffic, particularly in heavy traffic conditions. It was confirmed that alcohol and drugs were not involved, and all parties were using seatbelts and child restraints.
The accident resulted in lane closures lasting approximately eight hours before the roadway reopened on Monday.
