MECOSTA COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) – A fatal car crash is under investigation in Mecosta County, occurring Wednesday at approximately 11 a.m. on Northland Drive, south of 12 Mile Road.
According to the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle traveling north on Northland Drive crossed the center line, veered off the shoulder, and struck a tree. The car caught fire upon impact and was soon engulfed in flames.
Authorities reported that the driver did not escape the fire and was pronounced dead at the scene. While investigators believe they know the driver’s identity, confirmation is pending an autopsy.
Currently, there is no indication that another vehicle was involved in the incident. The Sheriff’s Office is urging witnesses to come forward and provide any information related to the crash.
