TOWN OF WIOTA, Wis. (WKOW) – A motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries after colliding with a deer Saturday morning on County Trunk Highway N.
According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred in the 10,000 block of CTH N. The motorcyclist, identified as 65-year-old Danny G. Burkhalter of South Wayne, was riding a 1988 Harley Davidson southbound when he struck the deer, resulting in his ejection from the motorcycle.
Burkhalter was airlifted to UW Hospital by UW Medflight. Authorities confirmed he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The incident is currently under investigation.
