Two Boston officers injured in multi-car crash
BOSTON — Two police officers were seriously injured in a car crash early Friday morning in the South End.
The incident occurred around 4:02 a.m. at the intersection of East Berkeley and Washington streets, involving multiple vehicles. Both officers sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to Boston police.
A third person in a separate vehicle was also injured and taken to a hospital, though their condition is reported as non-life-threatening. Boston Emergency Medical Services (EMS) confirmed that three individuals were transported to area hospitals following the crash.
Authorities did not provide further details about the circumstances leading up to the accident or the involvement of the officers. Video from the scene shows two dark-colored SUVs on the sidewalk, with deployed airbags and significant front-end damage.
At least three Boston Police cruisers responded, and the area was secured with yellow police tape. An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
