89-Year-Old Man Dies in Big Rapids Collision

MECOSTA COUNTY, Mich. — An 89-year-old man from Big Rapids died following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of 15 Mile Road and 220th Avenue on September 22, according to the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities reported that the man was traveling south on 220th Avenue when he pulled in front of a westbound vehicle driven by a 20-year-old woman from Big Rapids. The impact of the collision resulted in fatal injuries for the elderly man.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene, where the man was pronounced dead. The 20-year-old suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for medical treatment.

The incident is under investigation, and the Sheriff’s Office is working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the accident. No lane closures or additional disruptions were reported at this time.
