Crash leads to arrest in Charlie Kirk assassination case.

ST. GEORGE, Utah (TNND) — Tyler Robinson, 22, has been charged with aggravated murder following the September 10 shooting of Charlie Kirk on a college campus, according to authorities.

Video recorded by the St. George Police Department in 2022 shows Robinson discussing a car crash where he t-boned another vehicle before his mother provided insurance information. Robinson appeared calm and cooperative, even joking about adding oil to his car prior to the incident.

Authorities reported that Robinson’s family members cooperated with the investigation. A relative reached out to a friend, suggesting Robinson had implied his involvement in the killing. His father later identified him from FBI-released surveillance photos during the manhunt for the suspect.

Investigators also learned from Robinson’s roommate about discussions in a Discord chat that mentioned a rifle and related items. After a 33-hour manhunt, Robinson was arrested and faces multiple charges including aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, and obstruction of justice.

Utah County prosecutors announced their intention to seek the death penalty against Robinson. The investigation into the incident is ongoing and additional details are expected as the case progresses.
