Wheelchair-bound man dies in Fort Wayne crash during heavy rain.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WISH) — A man in a wheelchair died following a single-vehicle crash on Clinton Street at East Baker Street on Sunday evening.

At 5:48 p.m., Fort Wayne officers responded to the incident near a U.S. Post Office. Upon arrival, they discovered the man critically injured and immediately initiated life-saving measures. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) Fatal Accident Crash Team and Air Support Unit are investigating the incident. Authorities reported that heavy rain was occurring at the time, and the man was crossing Clinton Street when he was struck by the vehicle. The driver’s cooperation with the investigation has been confirmed.

Investigators are actively seeking video evidence from the area. Clinton Street was closed for nearly two hours during the investigation.
