Passenger killed in two-vehicle crash on Indianapolis north side.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A two-vehicle crash in a residential area on the north side left one person dead Saturday afternoon.

At 4:04 p.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a personal injury crash at the intersection of 43rd Street and North Meridian Street. Upon arrival, they discovered an accident involving two vehicles, with one occupant ejected.

The ejected occupant was transported to an area hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead. Authorities confirmed that the deceased was a passenger in the vehicle traveling westbound on 43rd Street.

Investigators believe a vehicle traveling southbound on North Meridian Street struck the westbound vehicle. Intoxication is not considered a factor in the crash. Both drivers submitted to blood draws, which is standard procedure in fatal accidents.

The investigation is ongoing, with no further details released about lane closures or tows at this time.
