Three Rolla residents were injured in a motorcycle and vehicle crash Sunday morning on I-44 in Laclede County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) reported the incident occurred at 10:40 a.m. at mile marker 134.4 in the westbound lane. The crash involved two motorcycles—a 1999 Suzuki GSX 1300R and a 2008 Suzuki GSX 1300R—and a 2018 Ford Escape.
According to the crash report, the 1999 Suzuki rider struck the rear of the Ford Escape. The 2008 Suzuki rider subsequently crashed into the other motorcycle.
The 1999 Suzuki rider, a 23-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. The two other Rolla residents involved in the crash suffered moderate injuries and were transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Lebanon.
MSHP confirmed that both motorcycle riders were wearing helmets, and the Ford driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
