Three dead in pontoon boat crash on Flagstaff Lake.

Three Killed in Boat Crash on Flagstaff Lake, Authorities Report

A boat crash on Flagstaff Lake in Eustis, Maine, on September 3, 2025, resulted in the deaths of three individuals, according to the Maine Warden Service.

The incident involved a 2024 18-foot Sea-Doo Switch, one of thousands recalled earlier this year due to safety concerns regarding a risk of nosediving and flipping. Despite the calm weather conditions, the boat flipped end over end after the driver attempted to correct its course.

The deceased are identified as Farhana Nasir, 53, Kiran Akbar, 23, and Noor Nasir, 22, all from New York. The vessel was operated by 50-year-old John Morris of Eustis, who has not responded to media inquiries. It is unclear whether the boat underwent necessary recall modifications.

The recall followed a lawsuit linked to a separate incident that left a child critically injured after their Switch flipped in 2024. Legal representatives have described the boat as dangerous, claiming it can become a “death trap.”

Authorities are investigating the crash, which marks a concerning trend with the Sea-Doo Switch. Bombardier, the manufacturer, stated they are aware of the accident and are committed to investigating the situation, asserting the boats meet safety standards.

The investigation continues as officials work to confirm further details surrounding the crash and the recall status of the involved vessel.
