One person has died following a single-vehicle crash on I-75 northbound in Georgetown on Sunday evening, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to the scene near Lemons Mill Road around 5:17 p.m. They believe the crash was likely caused by speeding. Emergency crews arrived at 5:23 p.m., where they confirmed the driver was deceased upon arrival. The identity of the victim remains unknown.
Investigators reported that the vehicle veered to the right, struck a rock embankment, flipped over, and slid into a guardrail. There was no indication of alcohol involvement in the initial investigation.
One northbound lane remains open as authorities continue their investigation.
