No Injuries in Crash Caused by Downed Power Lines

Downed Power Line Causes Fire and Road Closure in Rehoboth Beach Area

A downed power line on Oct. 13 led to a 10-hour road closure and a fire in a wooded area along Route 24.

According to the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company, crews were dispatched at 1:20 p.m. to 21171 John J. Williams Highway for a reported motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, they discovered that a fallen tree had taken out power lines and struck a vehicle.

The fallen lines ignited a fire in an adjacent wooded area. Fire crews managed to extinguish the blaze while carefully navigating through the woods due to the presence of live wires, authorities reported.

The road remained closed for approximately 10 hours, but there were no reported injuries as a result of the incident.
