Motorcyclist Killed in Loveland Crash After Fleeing Traffic Stop
LOVELAND, Colo. — A 37-year-old motorcyclist died Friday evening after crashing into an SUV near Eisenhower Boulevard and Denver Avenue.
The collision occurred around 8 p.m., causing minor injuries to the SUV driver and substantial damage to the vehicle, according to the Loveland Police Department.
Prior to the crash, a Larimer County deputy initiated a traffic stop on the motorcyclist for reckless speeding near E. 7th Street and Boise Avenue. The rider fled the scene, prompting deputies to terminate the pursuit after losing sight of the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was transported to Medical Center of the Rockies where he was later pronounced dead. His name has not yet been disclosed. Authorities confirmed that he was a habitual traffic offender with a revoked license.
Police noted an increase in reckless motorcycle operation in Loveland, with incidents reported daily.
