SLIDELL, La. — A Slidell man is facing multiple charges after reportedly fleeing a crash and causing a subsequent accident on U.S. Highway 190 on Friday around 12:30 p.m.
According to authorities, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office (STPSO) deputies discovered two cars on the side of the road near Louis Prima Dr. that appeared to have been involved in a collision. As deputies approached to assist, 19-year-old Griffin Batiste allegedly drove away.
Deputies pursued Batiste, who later lost control and flipped his vehicle. Fire District personnel were dispatched to the scene to extricate him from the wreckage. Batiste was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Warrants are expected to be issued for Batiste’s arrest, including charges of hit-and-run, aggravated flight from an officer, obstruction of a roadway, and reckless operation. Additional charges may follow as the investigation continues.
