Four dead in tragic crash on U.S. Highway 93

ST. IGNATIUS, MT – Four people were killed in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 93 north of St. Ignatius Wednesday evening.

According to Lake County Sheriff Don Bell, the incident occurred just after 5:30 p.m. in the Post Creek Hill area. The crash involved an RV carrying 10 passengers and a passenger car.

Authorities reported that all four occupants of the passenger vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. The RV passengers sustained injuries but all survived.

Traffic on Highway 93 was diverted for over three hours as emergency personnel managed the scene and conducted their investigation. The deceased were transported to the Montana State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office is conducting an investigation into the cause and manner of death, while the Montana Highway Patrol is also looking into the crash. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
