Helicopter Crash in Rosporden, France, While Fighting Wildfires
A Morane 29 water bomber helicopter crashed into a pond in Rosporden, France, while attempting to scoop water for wildfire firefighting efforts.
Eyewitness video shows the helicopter descending to fill its water bucket when its tail submerged, causing it to spin out of control and crash. The incident occurred as France continues to combat multiple wildfires across the region.
According to reports, there were no fatalities. The pilot, along with an officer aboard the helicopter and a witness, were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities noted that this incident follows some of the most significant wildfires in recent decades in France, with one wildfire earlier this month burning an area larger than Paris and resulting in one fatality and several injuries.
Emergency services responded promptly, and an investigation into the crash has been initiated.
