MISSOULA, Mont. — A Life Flight helicopter from Missoula crashed in Lincoln early Tuesday morning while responding to an ATV accident on Main Street and Highway 200 around 1 a.m., according to the Lincoln Rural Fire Department.
Authorities reported that there were no patients on board and no injuries to the crew. The helicopter, attempting to land in the town center, struggled with dust visibility and collided with a pole.
Lincoln Rural Fire Chief Zach Muse stated that the helicopter “dumped it there” after the impact. A replacement Life Flight helicopter from Bozeman transported the ATV crash victim to St. Peter's Hospital in Helena.
The helicopter sustained significant damage; while it remains mostly intact, its rotors are destroyed, the tail is broken, and it is resting on its side. Main Street has been closed due to the incident.
