Two Washington Residents Die in Ashland I-5 Crash

ASHLAND, Ore. — Two residents from Issaquah, Washington, died in a crash on Interstate 5 on Monday, May 12.

According to Oregon State Police (OSP), a northbound Ford F-150 truck veered from its lane and struck the trailer of a parked Volvo commercial vehicle. The driver, 69-year-old Michael Kasser, and his passenger, 68-year-old Linda Kasser, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the commercial vehicle, 62-year-old Mohamed Baioumy of Moreno Valley, California, was uninjured.

OSP responded alongside the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, CAL FIRE, Ashland Fire & Rescue, and Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT).

The incident is under investigation. Further details regarding lane closures and tow status will be released as they become available.
