Four Injured, One Killed in Gasconade County Accident
GASCONADE COUNTY, Mo. — A single-vehicle accident on Sunday night left one person dead and three injured.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), a 2007 Jeep Liberty was traveling south on South Fourth Street in Owensville at approximately 9:15 p.m. The vehicle veered off the right side of the road, striking three mailboxes, a utility pole, and a driveway embankment before becoming airborne and crashing to the ground. Subsequently, the Jeep overturned, resulting in all four occupants being ejected.
Authorities reported that three males sustained serious injuries: a 37-year-old and a 26-year-old from Bland, Mo., and a 22-year-old from Belle, Mo. Tragically, a 17-year-old male from Bland was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:22 p.m. by the Gasconade County Coroner.
MSHP officials noted that none of the occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. Emergency response teams attended to the injured individuals, and the vehicle was towed from the scene. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
