Cave Junction Man Dies in Two-Car Crash on Highway 199
CAVE JUNCTION, Ore. — A Cave Junction man was killed in a two-car crash on Highway 199 on Monday, May 19, at approximately 10:45 a.m., according to Oregon State Police (OSP).
The accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 199 and Waldamar Road. Investigators determined that a Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound on Waldamar Road when it failed to stop at a stop sign and entered Highway 199. A southbound GMC Yukon then struck the left side of the Toyota.
The driver of the Toyota, 24-year-old Hunter Lee Bryant of Cave Junction, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the GMC, 59-year-old Scott Adam Seaman of Selma, sustained minor injuries.
Emergency responders from the Illinois Valley Fire District, AMR Josephine County, the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, and OSP arrived shortly after the crash. The incident caused significant traffic delays on both southbound lanes of Highway 199 at milepost 28, with wait times ranging from 20 minutes to two hours. The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) advises drivers to slow down or move over for the safety of emergency workers on the scene.
