Woman Killed in Two-Car Accident on Route 17 in Portland
Portland, CT—A woman died in a two-car collision on Route 17 Saturday around 11:45 a.m.
The accident occurred near Overlook Court when the driver of a Toyota Camry, traveling south, lost control and was struck by a Honda Pilot heading north. Authorities confirmed that the woman in the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in the Honda, a woman and a teenager, were transported to the hospital with injuries.
Prior to the crash, Glastonbury police received reports of a female driver slumped over the steering wheel of the Toyota at the intersection of Route 17 and Great Pond Road. An officer arrived, knocked on the window, and the driver subsequently sped away. The officer pursued her for a short distance but ceased the chase at the Portland town line.
