Teen Killed, Another Injured in Klamath County Crash
KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. — One teen died and another was injured in a car crash on Saturday, May 17, on Highway 140.
According to the Oregon State Police (OSP), a Dodge Durango traveling east struck a disabled Honda CR-V blocking the eastbound lane near milepost 1. Eighteen-year-old Kaylee Rae Volpe of Klamath Falls was in the Honda with a 17-year-old male, who was attempting to diagnose the vehicle’s failure. The collision caused the male juvenile to be thrown over the bridge barrier and into the Klamath River.
First responders transported Volpe to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Durango, 40-year-old Forrest Clinton George Fairchild, was not injured.
The OSP responded with assistance from the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office, Klamath County Fire District #1, Klamath County Fire District #4, Klamath County Dive Rescue, and ODOT.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
