One dead, four injured in Newtown crash after driver misses curve
NEWTON, CT — One person was killed and four others injured early Sunday morning when a driver lost control of a vehicle and crashed into a tree on Berkshire Road.
Emergency crews responded to the incident around 2:40 a.m. near Zoar Road. According to police, a 2017 Ford Mustang GT was traveling westbound on Route 34 when the driver failed to navigate a left curve and veered off the roadway.
Authorities confirmed that 19-year-old Mary Cordero of Danbury died in the crash; she was seated in the rear middle position of the vehicle. The other four occupants were taken to Danbury Hospital, with two reported to have critical injuries.
