MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Grammy-nominated R&B singer Angie Stone, 63, was killed early Saturday in a on Interstate 65, according to authorities.

Around 4 a.m., a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter carrying Stone and several others flipped over before being struck by a Freightliner truck approximately five miles south of Montgomery. Authorities confirmed that Stone was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the and seven passengers were taken to Baptist Medical Center for treatment.

The Alabama State Troopers are investigating the incident, but the cause remains undetermined at this time.

Walter Millsap III, Stone's manager, stated that everyone else in the vehicle survived. Stone's family expressed their heartbreak in a statement, saying, “We are still trying to process and are completely heartbroken.”
