Injuries Reported in Multi-Car Crash on I-91 North in Middletown
MIDDLETOWN—Multiple injuries were reported following a multi-car crash on Interstate 91 North Wednesday night.
According to the Connecticut Department of Transportation, the collision occurred between exits 18 and 20 around 8 p.m. The Westfield Fire Department confirmed that several individuals were transported to the hospital for treatment.
Emergency crews reported that four vehicles were involved in the accident, including a gasoline tanker which briefly caught fire. State Police indicated that a driver lost control of their vehicle, colliding with a guard rail and subsequently striking other cars.
The highway was closed for a period following the incident but has since reopened. An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the crash.
