Woman Pleads Guilty to Metro Bus Driver Assault

MADISON (WKOW) — Raeven Johnson, 26, has pleaded guilty to attacking a Metro driver, causing the to crash into a building on February 25.

Johnson entered guilty pleas to second-degree recklessly endangering safety and attempted battery on a public transit operator. She also pleaded guilty to charges of misdemeanor child neglect and battery against a law enforcement officer. In exchange, prosecutors dropped 17 additional pending charges.

According to authorities, Johnson struck the bus driver multiple times after becoming upset that the bus route would not take her to Rimrock Road. The driver lost control, resulting in a collision with the Asian House restaurant and QPS Employment Group. One passenger was hospitalized due to injuries from the crash.

Johnson's defense attorney noted progress in her mental health treatment, stating she had been taking medication that improved her behavior. However, prosecutors argued she posed a danger to the public due to her extensive criminal history and the incident's seriousness.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for October 10.
