One man dead in St. Paul crash; driver suspected of and alcohol involvement

A man died in a car crash in St. Paul on Sunday night.

According to St. Paul police, officers responded to the collision at Arlington Avenue West and Dale Street North around 7:30 p.m. Initial investigations revealed a silver sedan was traveling westbound on Arlington Avenue at a high rate of speed when it ran a red light at Dale Street and collided with a black SUV.

The impact resulted in the SUV being pushed approximately 40 yards. Emergency responders extricated the driver of the SUV, a man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the sedan sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Regions Hospital. Authorities indicated that alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in the crash.
