Lede: A woman in her 60s died following a four-vehicle crash on I-94 in Monticello Wednesday night.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the incident occurred just before 7:20 p.m. when a Chevrolet Traverse, Ford F350, Ford Focus, and Freightliner Cascadia were all traveling eastbound on Interstate 94.
The passenger in the Chevrolet Traverse, identified as 69-year-old Susan Rintoul of Minot, N.D., was killed in the crash. Authorities reported she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident.
The driver of the Chevrolet Traverse sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The drivers of the Ford F350 and Ford Focus were also not seriously injured and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
Traffic on I-94 was backed up due to the accident; however, road conditions returned to normal shortly after the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
