Teen dies in ATV crash after running red light

ANTIOCH, TN — A 17-year-old boy died from injuries sustained in a crash on Aug. 11 at Hobson Pike and Smith Springs Parkway.

Authorities identified the victim as Darryl Anthony. He was driving a Honda Recon four-wheel around 8 p.m. when he allegedly ran a red light, colliding with a Dodge Durango that had a green arrow signal.

Both Anthony and a 16-year-old passenger were transported to Vanderbilt Children's University Pediatrics. The passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Neither of the teens was wearing helmets at the time of the incident. The occupants of the Durango were not injured and did not require medical assistance.

The Nashville Police Department is investigating the crash, and no further details have been released regarding potential legal consequences.
