Minivan Crash at New Hampshire Toll Plaza Injures Two, Kills Two Dogs
BEDFORD, NH — A minivan collided with a toll booth on the F.E. Everett Turnpike Tuesday morning, critically injuring two individuals and resulting in the deaths of two dogs.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:17 a.m. when a Chrysler Pacifica, driven by a 76-year-old woman from Manchester, struck the Bedford Toll Plaza on the southbound side. Both the driver and her passenger were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, according to the New Hampshire State Police.
Three dogs were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash; two did not survive, authorities reported.
An image released by police depicted the severely damaged minivan, with first responders working to extricate the occupants. The side of the vehicle appeared to be cut open during the rescue.
Speed is considered a contributing factor in the incident, which remains under investigation. As a result of the crash, three toll lanes were closed until late morning. Authorities are continuing to gather information.
