8-Year-Old Girl Killed in Boise Intersection Crash

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) — A man with an outstanding federal warrant was arrested after a crash that killed an 8-year-old girl on November 11.

According to the City of Boise, the driver, identified as Elvin Ramos-Caballero, struck Mora Gerety around 4:45 p.m. at the intersection of Ada St. and Harrison Blvd. The Ada County Coroner determined the cause of death as multiple blunt force injuries, ruling the manner of death as accidental.

Initial investigations revealed that a pickup truck driven by Ramos-Caballero was traveling west on Ada St. and stopped at a stop sign. Gerety was on the northeast sidewalk before crossing the intersection when traffic was backed up on Harrison. The collision occurred as both the vehicle and the entered the intersection, with the driver attempting to turn right.

Emergency responders rushed Gerety to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead in the emergency room.

A memorial has formed at the crash site, prompting expressions of sorrow from community leaders. Boise Mayor Lauren McLean emphasized the need for safe environments for children, calling for continued efforts to protect young pedestrians.

Rep. Russ Fulcher expressed condolences for Gerety's family, urging the community to offer support during this difficult time.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
