Fatal crash in Hale County leaves one dead, two injured

Eutaw Woman Killed in Hale County Crash

A two-vehicle crash on Alabama 14 in Hale County resulted in the death of a 26-year-old Eutaw woman on Oct. 31.

Janae L. Neese was driving a 2017 Hyundai Elantra when she collided with the rear of a 2018 Freightliner M2 garbage truck, driven by 31-year-old Demondre L. Pernell of Greensboro, at approximately 7:40 a.m. After the impact, the Hyundai caught fire. Neese was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) Troopers.

Two children, aged 5 and 11, who were passengers in the Hyundai, sustained injuries and were airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The crash occurred near the 53-mile marker, roughly 10 miles east of Eutaw. No further details were provided about the incident, and an investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
