MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) — A Muncie man, 30, was sentenced to 22 years in prison on March 20, 2024, for resisting law enforcement, resulting in a fatal crash.
Zacrey K. Antrim’s actions led to the death of Nicholus Wollums, a passenger in a white Jeep Wrangler.
According to court documents, Henry County Sheriff’s Deputy Tanner Strelecky attempted to pull Antrim over at approximately 6:15 a.m. on April 18, 2024. Antrim was driving a silver Dodge Dart when he crashed into the Jeep at the intersection of West McGalliard Road and Tillotson Avenue.
Authorities reported that Antrim swerved into the left-turn lane to navigate around vehicles stopped at a light before colliding with the Jeep. The collision resulted in serious bodily injury to the driver, Shanta Schmiesing.
Antrim pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including a mid-level felony of resisting law enforcement resulting in death, a low-level felony for causing serious bodily injury, and a misdemeanor for operating a vehicle with a controlled substance in his blood.
Delaware County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Hoffman commented on the case, stating, “Antrim killed another human being and seriously hurt another because he wouldn’t follow one of the most basic rules we have in an orderly society.”
Deputy Prosecutor Maricel Driscoll handled the case, with assistance from the Muncie Police Department and the Indiana State Police. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
