Pedestrian Killed, Another Injured in Arapahoe County Crash
A crash on Sunday night in Arapahoe County resulted in the death of one pedestrian and severe injuries to another.
At approximately 10 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a collision involving two pedestrians at East Smoky Hill Road and South Waco Street, near Big Sandy Park in Centennial, about 4 miles east of Cherry Creek State Park.
One pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other sustained life-altering injuries and was transported to a hospital with an amputated leg, according to Sheriff's Office spokesperson John Bartmann.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Authorities have not released details regarding the cause of the crash or whether drugs or alcohol are suspected.
The Arapahoe County Coroner's Office will identify the deceased pedestrian.
