70-Year-Old Man Dies in Head-On Crash Near Dover

One man dead, two others injured in head-on crash near Leipsic

LEIPSIC, Delaware—A 70-year-old man died following a head-on collision on Dyke Branch Road on September 20 at approximately 3:30 p.m., according to Delaware State Police.

The man was driving a Honda Accord eastbound when he crossed into oncoming traffic while approaching a curve. A westbound Volvo S40, driven by a 16-year-old Dover boy, swerved to avoid the Honda but was unable to prevent a collision as the Accord returned to its lane, resulting in a head-on impact.

Authorities reported that the driver of the Honda was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

The teenage driver sustained minor injuries, while his passenger, a 45-year-old Dover woman, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was also hospitalized. Both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is conducting the investigation. They urge anyone with information to contact them.
