31-Year-Old Woman Dies in Wrong-Way Crash in Salem

SALEM, N.H. — A woman died following a crash on South Broadway Friday night around 9:55 p.m.

According to Salem police, the 31-year-old was driving south in the northbound lane when she collided with another vehicle. The other driver is from Maine. The incident occurred near the Seasons Corner Market and gas station, leading to multiple emergency calls.

Broadway crosses the state line between New Hampshire and Massachusetts, and local residents note that on this stretch is common. “It’s a little tricky, with so many stores and cars coming in and out,” said Barbara Mahoney from Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Witnesses emphasized that congestion and road conditions heighten the risk of accidents. “It’s horrible, and the farther you go into Massachusetts, the worse it is,” noted George Fales from Exeter.

The woman’s identity is pending release. Salem police have not responded to further inquiries regarding the investigation.
