Three People Hospitalized after East St. Louis Crash on Interstate 64 near Washington Park Exit

East St. Louis, Illinois – Authorities are investigating a Tuesday morning multi-vehicle accident that left three people injured, one seriously in East St. Louis.

The major injury accident occurred shortly before noon on March 9, on Interstate 64, west of the Washington Park exit.

A white 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Terry Getz, 41, of Dupo, was headed eastbound on the roadway when, for unknown reasons, it crossed the center median cables into the westbound lanes where it collided with a Blue 2006 Toyota Avalon, operated by Kalisha Hudson, 23, of Chicago, the officials said.

Following the collision, a 2019 Peterbilt semi, driven by Mahomoud Jama, 46, of Chicago, reportedly crashed into the Toyota. An orange 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander, driven by Andrew Anderson, 40, of Belleville, also crashed into the wreckage.

Hudson was seriously injured in the accident and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

According to Illinois State Police, Anderson and Angelina Lockhart, 73, of Belleville, a passenger in one of the vehicles, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Getz, Jama, and Abdikadir Abdi, 34, of Owatonna, Minnesota, declined hospitalization. Abdi was a passenger in the semi-truck.

Traffic on the roadway was stopped for several hours due to the collision.

The Illinois State Police is investigating the accident.
